Phillip Quickfall

Obituary of Phillip Arthur Quickfall

Phillip died suddenly on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at the age of 48 years.

Phil’s death is most deeply felt by his true loves, his wife Heather Godwin and precious children Max and Emma. Heather and Phil shared 12 treasured years loving, supporting and caring for one another and their family.  His sister Heather Leffler, husband John, and Phil’s brother Rick Quickfall will miss their “baby” brother and best friend.  His nieces, Sarah and Lisa Leffler, Helen and her husband Robert Smith have lost their uncle, mentor, friend and Catan arbitrator for our board game nights.  His nieces Roslyn and Effie, and nephew Chesley Godwin and great nephews John and William Smith will miss playing with him, his tickles, laughter and hugs.  His Godwin family, sister-in-law Becky, brother-in-law Robert and his wife Allison, mother-in-law Roberta and Grandma Linda will miss their fun, loveable, kind and huggable sibling and son-in-law.

Phil’s family have received support and stories, love and prayers from extended family and friends from his earliest days at Bridgeport United Church, Bridgeport P.S. and 1st Bridgeport Scouting, Margaret Avenue S.P.S and Bluevale C.I., and the University of Waterloo where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Before beginning his career as a Registered Professional Engineer, he took time to travel with friends and family. On his travels and work terms, he made friends across Canada. Phil began his professional career at Stantec before moving to the City of Waterloo. Most recently he was the Director of Water Services for the city. We have been grateful to his friends and colleagues for sharing stories of the many lives he touched since joining their staff.

While loving and supporting Heather and juggling a young family and demanding job, Phil continued to connect with extended family, friends, neighbours, their church community at First United and most especially his team mates - from the Quickfall Farmhands hockey team, baseball teams, high school football and the Bridgeport bears. As well as taking time to enjoy his Monday night violin lessons, fishing, reading and play games.

We are so grateful for the many neighbours, family, friends, colleagues, teammates, fishing buddies and church family for their care of Heather, Max and Emma. Please continue to share your stories of Phil with us or send them to memoriesofphil@quickfall.ca so we can compile them for Max and Emma to better know their Dad as they grow up.

We will never tire of hearing your stories of him. Phil will always be with us in the love we share with one another. We are grateful that he is reunited with his parents Herbert and Barbara (Boettger) Quickfall and father-in-law Ken Godwin.
