Obituary of Jacob Dyck

Dyck, Jacob

It is with joy and with sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Jacob Dyck, on Friday, October 19. We are joyful because he died peacefully in his sleep, just as we had been praying, but we feel great sorrow because he will be missed by his wife, Elfrieda (née Gossen) and by his 3 children and their spouses, Elvera & Bill Reimer, Eleanor & Paul Cash, Walter & Sherry Dyck and by 7 grandsons and their spouses, Jamie, Michael, Nathan & Philip Reimer and Carl, David & Joshua Dyck and by 12 great-grandchildren.

He is predeceased by 2 brothers, Isaak & Peter, and a sister, Kathy Hamilton. He is survived by his brother Henry Dyck and 3 sisters, Margaret Toews, Mary Goertz and Anne Pommer.

Dad was fairly strong and robust until quite recently when CHF got the better of him. One year ago he and Elfrieda moved from Waterloo to Vineland to be closer to their daughter, Elvera.

Jacob and his family immigrated to Canada from Neuendorf, Ukraine in 1949. Jacob was a hard worker who worked his way up in different jobs. He studied to become a radio and TV technician and for 31 years he worked at Electrohome. He retired in 1988.

The funeral will take place back in Waterloo at the W-K United Mennonite Church on George St. on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Visitation will be at the church at 10am, Service at 11:15. Interment at Parkview Cemetery. Reception to follow back at the church.

Condolences for the family and donations to MCC may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S., Waterloo www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
