Obituary of Corrie Murphy
Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, in her 74th year.
Beloved wife of the late Pat Murphy, whom she joined on what would have been their 36th wedding anniversary. Loving mother of Suzanne House (Sam McIntyre), Cliff Rodregue (Leslie McKay) and step mother to Maureen Battle (Steve). Cherished grandmother of Tyler House and Cody House, step grandmother to Jonathan Weaver, Mackenzie Battle, James McIntyre and Liam McIntyre. She will be fondly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents William and Petronella Godschalk, brothers William Godschalk and John Godschalk, sisters Joanne Szczensy (Ted) and Lucia van Heeswyk (Anthony). She is survived by her sisters Reit Leusink (Hank) and Annie Tzeckas (George).
Corrie came to Canada from Holland at the age of 8 with her sisters and parents. She was formerly married to David Rodregue and remained close to her sister-in-laws Cathy, Leza, Alice and predeceased sister-in-laws Gloria, Rosalie, Florance, Theresa and Agnes. Later in life she married Pat Murphy October 10, 1982 where she grew her circle of relatives with Colette (Leo) and Linda (Kevin) amongst many others.
Corrie was well known for working hard in various restaurants in Cambridge. Corrie made many friends everywhere she went in person and on-line with her pogo friends. She was also known for her big kind heart who would help anyone in need. Corrie had a zest for life and lived life to the fullest until she became ill. She also loved animals and always had a pet whether it be a bird, cat or dog.
At Corrie’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Corrie’s Life and pot luck will be held at the Preston Legion, 335 Westminster Dr. N, Cambridge on Friday November 16, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
