Obituary of Hui Vuong
Hui Vuong passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of 99. He is survived by his wife Luoi Lam, their eleven children, and all of his loving grandchildren.
Born on February 2, 1925, in Vietnam to his parents, Nhu Vuong and Ngam Tran, Hui grew up to be an accomplished student and athlete. His athletic endeavors peaked when he became a part of the Vietnamese National Basketball Championship team in 1961. Hui cherished spending time with his family and delighted them with his wonderful cooking.
As a loving and dedicated father, Hui sought a brighter future for his family, embarking on a perilous journey out of Vietnam in 1979. This incredible adventure led to his entire family arriving in Waterloo by 1980, a success largely attributed to the kindness of Canadians and the congregation of the First United Church in Waterloo.
Services and visitation for Hui Vuong will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Prayers and interment at Parkview Cemetery will immediately follow. The funeral will adhere to Buddhist customs and traditions.
In accordance with Hui's wishes, the family kindly requests no donations or gifts. Your presence and prayers are sufficient and deeply appreciated.
