It is with profound sadness that the Zrebiec-Patel family announce the passing of Zdzisław “Ziggy” Zrebiec, who departed peacefully at home on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 8:28 PM, surrounded by his daughter and close family.

Ziggy was predeceased by his beloved wife of 29 years, Danusia Zrebiec (April 21, 2008); his father Jan Zrebiec (June 8, 2006); and his mother Helena Krezel Zrebiec (September 13, 2013). He is survived by his daughter, Danika Helena Zrebiec and his granddaughter, Elise Zarine Patel.

Born on August 24, 1952, in the quaint village of Brzostów, Głogow, Poland, Ziggy was the fourth of ten siblings. Though the family’s means were modest, he often spoke of a rich and loving childhood filled with happy memories. In fall of 1986, he became the first of six siblings to journey to Canada, eventually settling in Kitchener, and later assisting his brothers and sisters with immigration, employment and housing in their new country.

Ziggy will be most remembered for his extraordinary heart. His gentle, kind, and thoughtful nature touched everyone he met—he gave himself freely and selflessly.

Family and friends are invited to honor Ziggy’s life at a ceremony at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Afterwards, he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Danusia, at Williamsburg Cemetery, so that together they may share everlasting peace. A reception will follow at an off-site location, details which will be shared at the venue.
