Obituary of Lily Aurelia Hanje

Passed away suddenly in Waterloo on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the age of 74.

Survived by her sister Florika Ribarov, daughter Sonya Hanje and son Marcel Fiscia.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alexander Kurbiel, Izabella Kurbiel, Mikhela Watts and great grandchildren, Kayden and Corbin.

Predeceased by her devoted and beloved husband Ebele Hanje and her parents Alexandar and Maria Kataloni.

Lily Aurelia came to Canada in 1966 from Mali Zam, Serbia.  After arriving in Quebec, she moved to Kitchener Waterloo to live near family.  She met Ebele while working at Canbar and they married soon after.  Lily Aurelia then worked for many years at La-Z-Boy in Waterloo.  She loved to sew, create and got so much enjoyment from her flowers and garden.  Ebele & Lily were married for almost 40 years. In their later years they travelled and explored several countries.  Her family was her world, she wore her heart on her sleeve and was always there to help anyone she could.  She will be dearly missed by her whole family, many friends and all the people whose lives she touched over the years.   

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the members of the Apostolic Christian Churches, Nazarene of Kitchener for their kindness and the love shown to her.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, February 17, 2025 at 1:30 pm.  Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.
