I had known John over a decade. When I would see him he would always say hello. We frequented an establishment where I first John and would see one another often.
I am going to miss him terribly as many hearts he touched and is loved.

John and I met many many years ago at the Coronet Hotel in Kitchener. We became friends soon sharing our love for music. John had the biggest collection of LP's I had ever seen and his taste in music was basically the same as me. Plus he introduced me to artists I had never heard before. We dated, fell in love and eventually moved in together. Every other weekend, John would have his daughters and we had such fun times together, lots of laughs and great memories. I'd like to share a letter I wrote to myself after John passed.
Dear John:
Thank you and your family for coming into my life and leaving such great memories that I will cherish. I'm sorry you had a rough time in later years, but it also warms my heart that you are at peace and with your mother and your son. Until we meet again my friend.....peace out.

John… you're eight years older than me. I idolized you and Danny as a kid because you were my cousins and your Dad was funny as anything.
We lost touch by the time I was a teenager, but I never forgot you. It was a struggle to keep current on you, your brother and your Mom.
I wish we had more time, I had so many questions for you.
You're at peace now. Rest well, Cuz.

One time when I was homeless and incredibly sick, John let me stay at his place. I was throwing up, sweating, feverish, and John let me sleep in his bed for nearly two weeks while he slept in a chair. I didn't even realize where I was until I came out of the fever delirium. When I offered to compensate him he refused. This is how I will always remember John. A kind, thoughtful and generous soul who would go to any lengths for his friends. I'll miss ya big time, buddy. See you on the other side.

The one person who knew me the most, my best friend and the years shared are now memories.
