Obituary of Bonnie "Eve" Henderson

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 19, 2025, at Grand River Hospital- Freeport in her 75th year.

The family takes comfort in knowing Mom is free from pain and reunited with the love of her life Don Henderson who predeceased her in June 2020.

Bonnie ‘Eve’ will be deeply missed by her children Lisa Weiler Haskins (Richard Hamming), Scott Weiler (Brigitte De Jonge), Corey Weiler (Tracy), and stepchildren Deb Elligson (Jamie Heimpel) and Cheryl Nafziger (Paul).

Her grandchildren Jessica (Phil), Michael, Annique, Rebekah, Owen, Ainsley, Lilliene, Jaqueline, Nathan (Tori), Matthew, Alisha and great-grandchild Hazel, held a very special place in her heart and were the main reasons she fought so hard to live.

Bonnie ‘Eve’ was the third eldest of many siblings. She is survived by her loving sisters Florence Jahnke (Rudy), Katherine Pieper, and Janis Nabrotzky. She will be remembered by her in-laws Judy Henderson (Pat), Sue Erwin (Bob), and Doug Henderson. Her laughter and silliness will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Henderson, parents Percy Stoutenburg Sr. and Katherine (Stewart). Siblings David, Percy and Gord Stoutenburg, Wendy McGlynn and Carolyn Gilbert. Sister-in-law Charlene Henderson, brothers-in-law Oliver Nabrotzky, Ray McGlynn, Ted Gilbert, Alan Henderson and George Henderson.

Bonnie ‘Eve’ started life on a potato farm on the outskirts of Massey, Ontario. From there she moved to Kitchener to start her life. Mom tried her hand at many jobs, but her calling was in the service industry. She loved the breakfast shift and her regular customers. Mom always had a joke to tell, and she made sure your coffee cup was always full!

Mom and Don loved to do many things together. Dancing, casinos, dinners out, watching movies and travelling. They went on many vacations on their Aspencade. Mom was so comfortable that she would even fall asleep on the back. In their retirement they bought a classic hot rod and enjoyed touring around and attending classic car shows. They met many wonderful people in that community.

Holidays and celebrations were a special time for mom. She loved to gather with family and there was always a lot of food to enjoy! We are thankful that we got to spend one last Christmas with her.

Special thanks to Tricia Hilder for staying with mom so she could spend her final months at home, Fern Brenner, Bonnie Freeman, Daphne Klooster and Cindy Woolner for their support and friendship, PSWs especially Rupi who made mom feel at ease, Rosa from Rexall and the entire palliative team in the community and at Freeport who made sure mom was comfortable in her final days.

Bonnie ‘Eve’ was a colourful character. She loved to sport a pink or purple streak in her pure white hair. To honour and celebrate her spirit please feel free to wear a splash of colour and join us to share memories, jokes and say a final goodbye to mom.
