Obituary of Wanda Wiebe
Passed away peacefully at the Streetsville Care Community in Mississauga, ON, on March 18, 2025, at the age of 101.
She is survived by her nephews, Ronald Wiens of Mississauga, ON, and Stephen Wiens living in Costa Rica.
Predeceased by her loving husband Jack Wiebe, who passed away in 2009, and her sister, Irene, in 1998.
Born Wanda Dick, July 22, 1923, in Orloff, Ukraine (then a part of Russia). Wanda emigrated to Canada in 1926 with her parents, Frank and Anna Dick, and her sister Irene, along with many members of her parents' family. They settled originally in Guelph and eventually in Kitchener. She and Jack were married in 1950 at W-K United Mennonite Church in Waterloo. Work and education took them eventually to Guelph for a few years and then to Ottawa, where they both worked many years for the Canadian government in different departments. Wanda loved to travel, and she and Jack took many European and other trips by coach and cruise ship. After Jack's passing, Wanda moved to a retirement home in Mississauga to be closer to her nephew Ron and his wife Diane. Eventually her age and health took her to a local nursing home where she passed away at the amazing age of 101.
Special thanks to the very caring and attentive staff at Streetsville Care Community nursing home in Mississauga.
