Obituary of June Shirley Ballak

Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the age of 95.

June was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter, her siblings Roy, Ruth, Rita, Kathleen and Elaine, and her daughter Cynthia.

She is survived by her children David (Paula) and Deborah (Phil), her grandchildren Becca (James), Baylea (Jory), Drew (Sarah), and Amelia (Jonathan) and her great-grandchildren Hayz, Maclean, Rhys, Charles, Winifred, Malachi and Luella.

June and her late husband Peter bought Jessop’s Speedy Cleaners in 1984 and June worked there with Peter, and then her son David for many years, until they closed.

June was passionate about working for and with those less fortunate. She was involved in several organizations and clubs that worked with the mentally and physically challenged, such as the Happy Rovers and the Conquerors Club.

June also spent many years volunteering at Camp Lutherlyn, where she was known to be a master trickster – her great sense of humour kept her a camp favourite, and her pranks became famous among campers and other camp counsellors.  June also loved playing games. She was an avid scrabble player – she loved playing with her friends and grandkids – she was very competitive!

June loved her family and was very fortunate to have met all seven of her great grandchildren before she died. She also loved animals, especially dogs, and spent a lot of time with her trusted companions Samsara, Nippy, and Gus.

June loved seasoning with salt, and she attributed her long life to its preserving effects.

Special Thanks to the staff of Barnswallow Place, and especially those who became friends on Pheasant Run. We are all very grateful to her PSW’s and Nurses.

Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside ceremony will be held at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo.

Condolences for the family and donations to Pathway Community Church may be arranged at www.erbgood.com
