It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maurice Phillipe Levesque, aged 95 years, on March 27, 2025, in Kitchener, ON.
Maurice is survived by his beloved wife Marie (nee Heinbuch), and his children John (Elaine), Janice, Joel (Laurie) and Jerry (Liz). Loving grandfather of Breanne, Karlee, Lauren, Joel, Alex, Audrey, Kate, and Nicole. Dear brother of Leo Levesque (Stella) and sister, Evelyn Salatino (and the late Louis, “Salty”), and sister-in-law Betty Ann Culver.
He is predeceased by his parents Phillipe & Margaret (nee Coreau), his sister Margaret Bradley (and the late Bart), his sisters-in-law, Eileen Stock (and the late Joe), Olive Flick (and the late Bill), Geraldine Merkel (and the late Arnold), Doreen Hurley (and the late Harold, “Boat”), and his nephew Philip Levesque (Brenda).
Maurice was born in Chapleau, Ontario. As a young boy, his family moved to Fort William, Ontario, where he spent most of his youth. Maurice had a passion for the game of hockey, which eventually brought him to Kitchener to play for the Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, winning the Allan Cup in 1953.
Upon coming to Kitchener, Maurice met the love of his life, Marie, to whom Maurice was a caring and devoted husband for 72 years. He was also a proud and loving father to his children and grandchildren. Maurice loved nothing more than spending time with his loved ones. The cottage at Barrow Bay was a special family place that he proudly built. There were many cherished moments with family, extended family, and friends at Barrow Bay. He especially enjoyed sitting on the deck with Mom watching his grandchildren master various watersports over the years.
Maurice was a respected and talented hockey player in his day, as well as an equally talented and respected electrician, and a proud member of the I.B.E.W, Local 804.
The Family would like to extend its sincere gratitude to the staff at Winston Park for the excellent care given to him during his time there.
Cremation has taken place.
