Obituary of Kham Iamsisanith
Kham was born on August 2, 1936, in the small island village of Ban Don Than, Muang Khong District, Champasak Province, Laos. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Khiane Iamsisanith. She moved to Ban Khang Khong to join Khiane where they started their own business and had five children. When Khiane passed away in 1985, Kham became the family matriarch. In January 2001, Kham moved to Kitchener-Waterloo, ON, Canada to live with her eldest daughter.
Throughout her life, Kham was a devout Buddhist, committed to living by the teachings of the Dhamma. In times of plenty and in times of scarcity, she never hesitated to share what she had with those in need. Kham's generosity, compassion, and warmth was exemplary.
In her private life, Kham excelled in the kitchen and loved cooking for her family and friends. While she enjoyed trying new foods, she never said no to pizza, Korean food, cake, ice cream, or bubble tea. She loved going to the movie theatre, though she didn't understand any English; as long as she had a bag of popcorn, a fizzy drink, and the company of her family, Kham was happy. More than anything in the world, Kham simply loved spending time with her family.
Kham passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, in the loving presence of her family. She is survived by her daughters, fifteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Kham was deeply loved and cherished and will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
