Obituary of Shirley Elaine Rieck

It is with great love & sadness we announce the passing of Shirley Elaine Rieck, at the age of 89 years old. Shirley passed away peacefully at Age Care West Williams with family by her side.

Survived by her devoted daughters, Wendy Paddock (Robert), Penny Beacock (Allen), Tammy Cash (Perry). Grandmother of Ryan (Stephanie), Tyler (Erica), Charity, Hilary (Rashid), Erin (Dermot), Cameron. Great-grandmother to six. Dear sister of Sandra Reidiger (Ernie)

Predeceased by her loving husband, Donald Charles Rieck (2018)

Shirley was always ready with a bright smile.  She had an easy, pleasant way with people. As such, she worked for many years in the hospitality industry, notably at Westmount Golf & Country Club. In the last chapter of her working years, she worked at Staebler Insurance. 

In their leisure time, Shirley & Don shared a love of cycling on their tandem bike. They were proud of their long-distance trips. Some of those trips included from Niagara Falls to Niagara-on-the-Lake, from their home in Waterloo to Goderich or Elora.

They were devoted volunteers for many years at Sunnyside Home.

Shirley lived for the past four and a half years at Age Care West Williams. She enjoyed the various activities provided there.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Age Care, particularly the Beechwood Neighbourhood staff. Your attentive, loving care was very much appreciated by Shirley and family.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, in the Fireside Reception Room, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., with speeches being held at 5:30 p.m.
