He is survived by Hilda Van Holst (wife), Ron (son) and Hanan Van Holst, Harvey (son) and Gail Van Holst, Lisa (daughter) and Mark Frey, Carla (daughter) and David Douglas, fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Brother-in-law Sjaak Van Wensveen and sister-in-law Sjaan Van Holst.
Predeceased by Father Cornelis and mother Weintje, sister Tueny and brother-in-law Arie Nugteren, brother Dick Van Holst, brother Gerrit and sister-in-law Jean Van Holst, and sister Nanda Van Wensveen.
Born May 27, 1934, in Bodegraven, Holland and immigrated as a single young man to Canada in 1954. He wed his beloved wife, Hilda Merkus, on June 4, 1960, in Guelph, Ontario and they were blessed with four beautiful children. He is fondly remembered by all for his servant heart both professionally as an auto mechanic, and the way in which he faithfully served his community, church and overseas.
Psalm 91:1-2 – “One who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will lodge in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, My God in whom I trust!’”
Visitation will be held at Trinity Bible Chapel 1373 Lobsinger Line, Waterloo on Monday May 5th from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the church on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Private family Interment will take place on May 6th.
