Greta Marion Heath passed away in Kitchener suddenly on May 5, 2025, in her 94th year. Marion was the daughter of the late Harburn William Heath (OW) and Gladys May Hampton. Predeceased by brother Douglas William (Elizabeth MacMillan), sister Gladys Marjorie (Rev. Ralph Blight) and nephew John Heath. Marion will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
She graduated from McMaster University with a B.A. in English and obtained her Primary Methods Specialist Teacher’s Certificate. As a teacher she taught in Weston, York, Etobicoke, Peel, and in Edmonton, Alberta. She returned to school and received her Master’s in Religious Education from Columbia University in New York City. Marion spent three years in Amritsar, Punjab, India teaching in parochial girls’ schools and one year at a university where she taught Primary Methods.
Marion authored several books, one being ‘Stories from Stone’ about Cairns from Ontario. She travelled to Europe, India, Japan, Thailand, UK, some Caribbean Islands as well as Canada and the USA. In her family life she was a good daughter, sister and aunt. Marion was a strong believer of the Christian Faith and a champion for it.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Water St. N, Kitchener, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Simcoe Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory to St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Food Bank Waterloo Region, Doctors Without Borders, Save the Children, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
