Obituary of Vera Treutlein

Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the age of 90.

Survived by her children Eric (Julie) and Jenny (Jason), grandchildren Kara, Kelsey, and Tristan, brother Ludwig (Helga), and her dear cousin Blanka Klimova.

Predeceased by her husband Erich Treutlein, and her parents Franz and Matilda Hankowetz.

Born in Budweis, Czech Republic, Vera came to Canada in 1955 to marry her husband, Erich. She became a mother in 1968 to Jenny and settled in London, Ontario until moving to Kitchener in 1972. Her son Eric was born in 1977. Vera was sadly widowed in 1995 when Erich Sr. passed away suddenly. In 2005, she became an Oma for the first time at the age of 70. In 2020, Vera moved in with her son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren into a “granny apartment,” which she affectionately called her “Shangri-La.” She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and she, the light of theirs.

Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. A Reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.
