Obituary of Rev. Melvin A. Janke

Mel came peacefully to the end of his life journey at University Gates on Friday, April 4, 2025 in his 93rd year.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Alma (nee Lantz, formerly Weppler).

Dear stepfather to Susan Thompson, the late Dale Weppler (Shirley) and Carol Heard (James). Cherished papa of eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Mel was a pastor for many years at East Zorra Lutheran Church in Tavistock and teacher at Conestoga College in Guelph.

In keeping with Mel’s wishes, there will no funeral service. In memory of Mel, a tree will be planted at Laurel Creek Conversation Area.

Mel will be forever missed for his kindness, warm smile, big hugs and sense of humour.
