Henry Ramitt went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the age of 82.
Henry was born on Sunday, April 18, 1943 in Barima River, Guyana, South America, to Rose and Cyril Ramitt. He was one of twelve siblings, three of whom, are pre-deceased. Henry moved to Matthew’s Ridge where he began mining. He soon was mentored as a machinist, a career he would continue throughout his life.
It was during this time at Matthew’s Ridge that Henry became a born-again Christian. This was also where he met Doreen Sugrim whom he would marry in 1968.
Henry and Doreen had three children: Sean (b. 1969), Mark (b. 1970), and Julie (b. 1971). The family immigrated to Canada in 1973 and settled in Waterloo where he remained for the rest of his life.
Henry worked as a machinist for various companies in Waterloo before venturing into business with his brother, Wilmot, in 2001 when they formed Industrial Tooling Solutions. Henry went on to start D&H Enterprises Inc. which he continued to operate until his illness prevented him from carrying on.
Henry enjoyed life and spending time with his family, and his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. In later years, Henry was an avid golfer and enjoyed good food and friends. He also became a world traveller, enjoying places such as Israel, Spain, Cuba, Barbados, Mexico, and Alaska.
Henry was a man of faith who spent time daily reading his Bible. He attended Waterloo Pentecostal for over 40 years and raised his family in the Christian faith. He had an assurance of his eternity with Jesus.
Henry will be greatly missed, and forever remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
The family extends a special thank you to all the nurses, PSWs, staff, and volunteers at Innisfree Hospice for their compassion and excellent care.
“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
