Obituary of David Laurence Pearson
David Pearson passed away after a short illness on May 19, 2025, surrounded by family and the caring Hygate Retirement Home support staff.
David is remembered by his beloved children Jennifer (Marty) and Stephen (Suzette), and grandsons Jacob, Aaron and Joshua (Emma) and great grandchildren, Chloe and Ruth.
Predeceased by his parents, Hugh and Eloise, and his dear wife Susan.
Dave began his career when he enlisted in the Canadian Air Force during peacetime. It was there that he met his wife, Susan, who served in the Air Force Reserve. He eventually joined Sears as a Manager in the Credit Department where he enjoyed a 25-year career. After retiring from Sears, he most enjoyed his time with the Waterloo-St. Jacob’s Railway as Train Conductor. Dave then started a second career in his retirement as a part-time Credit Counselor for Mosaic Counseling Services (now Camino) for 14 years, well into his 70s. He helped hundreds of people with their finances during this time.
While Dave moved homes about 30 times in his lifetime across Canada, his longest stays were in Montreal, Ottawa, Regina, SK and Waterloo, ON. These many moves had their challenges. For example, he spent grade 3 in 3 different schools in 3 different provinces.
All these moves and experiences made Dave a resilient and adaptable person, and surprisingly stoic and even keeled.
Over the years, Dave enjoyed events at Kitchener’s Centre in the Square and The KW Symphony Orchestra. He was an active member of the Waterloo YMCA for many years, and a Crisis Line volunteer for 25 years.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Visitation will take place at Waterloo Pentecostal Assembly, 395 King St. N, Waterloo, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
