Obituary of Roydon Riel

Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at WRHN Chicopee with his beloved wife by his side.

 

Roydon will be deeply missed by his loving wife Carole, his loving children Michele Kelsey, David (Sharon), Wendy (Joel Kealey), Christina (Henry Hamm), and Robert (Jody). Cherished grandpa to 13 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

 

Dear brother of Ken (Dona) Riel. Predeceased by his parents James Sr. and Helen Flint, his brother Jim Jr. and sister-in-law Joan Weyer and his brother Wayne (Bev).

 

Born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, the family moved to Waterloo in 1972.  Roy was known for his ready smile, keen sense of humour and his faithful devotion to family and God. 

 

Roy was always there to help out, whether that be with his extensive acts of volunteerism or his general giving nature to others.

 

The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care and support provided by the Palliative Care team at the Grand River Hospital, Freeport Campus in Kitchener (WRHN Chicopee).

 

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 10 – 11am. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home at 11am followed immediately by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will be held at Parkview Cemetery.
