Obituary of Ilse Wolter (nee Bietz)

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at age 80, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Johannes Wolter, just days earlier on May 29. He was waiting to hold the door of Heaven open for her.

Ilse was born October 28, 1944, and raised in Stuttgart, Germany. As a young girl, she dedicated her life to serving the Lord. At 15, she immigrated to Canada and eventually met John – the love of her life – at a Christian campground. They married and built a beautiful life in Sarnia, Ontario, raising five children together.

She was graceful in humility, yet strong in faith. Her home was built on discipline, hard work, and devotion to God – with plenty of joy and laughter. Music filled the household – piano lessons, worship songs, and Southern Gospel albums...Mom was always singing a little song. She embraced life with enthusiasm – camping trips, swimming at the beach, game nights. She enjoyed church gatherings, baking her famous Torte or the family favourite “Reurkuchen,” for coffee break. She had a good supper on the table every night.

“Oma” never stopped smiling when her grandchildren were near, spoiling them with sweet treats. She loved nature, long walks with John, and road trips to visit family. She persevered through many difficult trials and health issues, but would often say that a good husband and family were a little bit of heaven on earth – now that continues as her eternal destiny.

She is lovingly remembered by her children Richard (Michelle), Michael (Karen), Linda (Rob), Judy (Gregg), Tina (Jake), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
