Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the age of 83. Survived by daughter Catherine Sinkins, son John Sinkins (Michelle), granddaughter Chelsey Sinkins, siblings Art Mercer (Betty), Dr. Paul Mercer (Dr. Nina). Predeceased by husband John L. Sinkins, parents Paul and Edna Mercer.
Maryl was born and raised in Guelph, Ontario. She began a career as a teacher at Eastwood Collegiate where she met her husband, John. She proudly received her bachelor of music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1991. Maryl enjoyed many years as the music director at All Saints' Anglican Church in Waterloo. The relationships she developed there were very special to her and she especially appreciated all the love and support she received from the church during her health challenges. Maryl was the music director at First United Church in Waterloo prior to All Saints' and was also organist at Livingston Presbyterian Church in Baden.
If Maryl wasn't playing the piano or organ, she could be found at her beloved cottage. Many hours were spent walking the beach or relaxing on the deck with a good book.
