Obituary of Dr. Bruce Alfred Owers

Dr. Bruce Alfred Owers passed away peacefully at the Innisfree House on June 22, 2025, at the age of 89.

Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Helen Owers. A cherished father that will be missed by his children: Dr. Wendy Owers (Jim Gray), the late Tracey Lopers (Ronald), Kristyn Owers and stepdaughter Lauren Mac Eachern (Joey). He will be missed by grandchildren: Nicholas Lopers (Marissa), Taylor Parker (Jaime), Hunter Gray & Selma Owers. Dear brother of the late Andrea Mitchell (Tom) and Marianne Hahn (Jim).  He will remain in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and cousins. Dr. Bruce will be remembered as a great mentor, father, grand father and friend.

Bruce grew up in Kitchener, and he attended the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and gradated in 1959. He then graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1961 – the same year he opened his practice and served the Waterloo Region for over 40 years. Dr. Owers spent countless hours mentoring and shaping the next generation of Chiropractors.

Bruce has a deep passion for his family, friends and his community. He was a gifted storyteller, often recounting tales of the "good old days." His stories of his childhood, his family and his career were not only entertaining but a testament to the full and generous life he lived.

His presence, wisdom, and passion will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 11am. Reception to follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.
