Obituary of Evelyn Doucette
Passed away in her home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 83.
Dearly missed by her son, Kevin and her daughter, Carol Anne (Scott) Weir; her grandchildren, Bretton Weir, Kassandra Michelle Doucette, and Melissa Nicole Doucette; and her sister, Patsy (Pat) MacDonald of Stellarton, NS.
Evelyn is now reunited with her husband, Gerry Doucette, of 61 years. Her parents, Mike and Grace Fraser and her brother Wayne and sister Carlene, who lived in Nova Scotia.
Evelyn was born in Stellarton, NS and raised in a small coal mining village known as The Bull Pen. She moved to Ontario in 1962 with Gerry, and they were married in 1963. They made Waterloo their forever home. She had a knack for numbers and problem solving and put those skills to use at the bank for over 35 years. She carried those life skills for many years as she raised her family. Evelyn could also solve any sudoku or crossword puzzles with ease. Working at the bank, she developed many lifelong friendships.
She always had a lending ear for friends and especially family members in times of need. Evelyn made Christmas, birthdays and special occasions extra special, especially for Kassy and Missy. She was able to travel to many places in North America with Gerry as he travelled for his career. She always cherished these memories with him. She was known for her kindness and generosity. She generously donated to many churches and charities.
She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a cherished grammie. She will be missed dearly by her friends and family.
Special thanks to the home care and palliative team for their daily compassionate support and care in my mum’s home, where she requested to spend the remainder of her days.
Cremation will have taken place. Burial and Celebration of Life for Evelyn and Gerry will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton, NS, at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Diabetes Canada may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S. Waterloo, at www.erbgood.com
Mum and Dad,
I miss your face; I miss your smile.
I wish I could see you once in a while.
I miss your laugh; I miss your love.
I hope you are watching with pride from above.
I miss so much not having you here,
Guiding me in life and having you near.
I miss you, Mum; I miss you, Dad,
Forever in my heart with the memories we had.
Love you always and will miss you even more.
Kevin
