Obituary of Clive Vincent Reade
Clive passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous 20 year battle with cancer. Devoted husband to Jo-an Reade (nee Cates), loving father to Kristie Raso, Stephanie Clarke (Scott), Greg Reade (Krista), adoring “Ampa” to Nicky, Lukie, Zoe, Jordan, Graydon, Katie, Abby, Jack, and Violet. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother Bob Reade and was predeceased by his parents Norah Reade (nee Bell) and Clive Reade Sr. He is now reunited in peace with his cherished daughter Stephanie and grandson Lukie.
Clive arrived in Canada from post-war England in 1946 and grew up in Kirkland Lake (the mile of gold, the hub of the north). He cherished his summers water skiing on Kenogami Lake and playing high school football. He started his career in logistics after high school and his strong work ethic propelled him from the warehouse floor to upper management in a number of trucking and warehousing operations in southern Ontario. In his retirement he enjoyed travelling, reading, watching “shoot ‘em ups” (especially James Bond), and listening to the Eagles. He spent many hours golfing – mostly at Foxwood Golf Course with his Foxboro Green golfing buddies. He volunteered for the LPGA tournaments in Waterloo, when he was recognized as “volunteer of the year” in 2017.
Clive will be remembered at a celebration of life at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of your choice in Clive’s honour may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or via www.erbgood.com.
