Obituary of Catherine "Kate" Runstedler

Catherine died peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener, on Friday, July 25, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family, in her 85^th year.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Gerard in 2019. Survived by her children Tony (Janice) Runstedler, Lisa David, Robert (Shelley) Runstedler, Juli (John) Chinnick and David Runstedler. Grandmother of Matthew, Christopher & Michael Runstedler, Jamal & Jasmin David, Brittany (Sam) Borden, Rhiannon & Caitlyn Runstedler, Melissa, Rachel & Nathan Chinnick, Kyle & Jaden Runstedler.

Predeceased by parents Ralph and Anne (Stemmler) Brenner, her three sisters Mary Erb, Joan Brenner and Helen Gunn.

Catherine was born in Linwood. She married Gerard in 1960 and built their home in Linwood and raised her family.

In 1986, Catherine co-founded GJR Construction Inc with her husband Gerard. She worked in the office doing the bookkeeping and paperwork.

Catherine and Gerard loved to travel and camp throughout Canada and USA. She also loved to garden and loved her flowers. She enjoyed reading, scrapbooking and genealogy.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital and Grand River Hospital and Cancer Centre for their care and compassion.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Catherine with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, July 31^st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11 a.m.  A reception will immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.
