Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Leis
September 10, 1939 – July 27, 2025
Jeannie died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on July 27, 2025 at Waterloo Regional Health Network, at the age of 85. Beloved wife of Eldon for 66 years. Mother of Linda & Dave Soeder of Kitchener, Steve & Brenda Leis of West Guilford and Michael Leis of Waterloo. Grandma of Dan (Logan) and Ben Soeder, and Ella, Kaitlyn (Drew), Vanessa, Peter (Mansi) and Chase (Rylee) Leis. Great grandmother to Gavin Soedar. Sister and sister-in-law of Irene & Ted Fronchak, Edna Richardson, Ruth & Bill Cluthe, Margaret & Dennis Martin, Alice Seidel, Linda & Murray Walz, Mike O’Reily, Gerry Litwiller, Margaret Boshart, Esther Wardell, Helen Wardell, Shirley Horst, Eileen Johnson, Ronald Leis, Helen Leis and Larry & Donna Leis. Predeceased by her parents Michael and Katie Boshart, brothers Ray, Eldon, William, David, and John Boshart, sisters Shirley Boshart, Mary Roth, Joan Litwiller, Kathy O’Reily, sister-in-law Marilyn Leis, and brothers-in-law Floyd and Len Wardell, Jesse Horst, Russell Johnson and Lloyd Leis.
Jeannie was smart, funny, and tough. She loved her garden, and even after moving into an apartment, cultivated a gorgeous balcony garden. She was the backbone behind Eldon’s painting and bonsai studio, making all things artistic possible, and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandson deeply.
The family wishes to thank the palliative care team at Waterloo Regional Health Network for their compassionate treatment of Jeannie. They would especially like to thank Manny, Jeannie’s liver donor, who gave her the gift of twenty-six miraculous extra years of life and love.
Per Jeannie’s request, there will not be a memorial service held at this time. After 66 years of marriage, Jeannie has chosen to remain hand in hand with her beloved husband, Eldon. After his death, there will be a memorial service held together for them both.
In lieu of flowers, Jeannie and her family would like to encourage her loved ones to register as an organ donor. Please consider giving other families the same gift of life that was granted to ours. Condolences may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
