My deepest condolences to Ed's family and friends on his passing. I met Ed at the Galt Curling Club. He was a wonderful teammate and a gracious competitor who never let his illness interfere with his enjoyment of his fellow curlers. He always had a good story to tell and tips to share about curling and life in general. He'll be missed but also fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to curl with him.

Our sincere condolences to Karen and her extended Nowak family. We have so many wonderful memories of Ed in his growing years. In particular his joy of living and life's experiences. We remember the summer that Ed was our caregiver so Helma could take university courses. It was a treat to watch and rewatch the memorial tribute to Ed., to see his family and specially his love for his children and grandchildren. A Prayer for Ed
God our Father, creator of all we are and of all that surrounds us. We commit Ed to you, God, free at last from the pain and suffering that had bound itself so firmly in its grip.
As Ed believed he would, we also believe that you have taken his soul to yourself and although we grieve and mourn his early passing, we nevertheless thank you for his rich and meaningful life that he shared so generously with all.
How he loved life, his family and friends, and constantly expressed to them his strength and vigor and talents – in his home, in the community, at work, in the church, and in so many other ways.
We thank you, God, for his legacy of generosity and faithfulness. We pray that these memories of his goodness will remain with us always.
We now go forward to continue our lives without Ed and we pray for your godly nearness to each one. We turn to you and pray that you will comfort us who mourn, and empower us to commit our short and fragile lives continuously to your power. Calm the turmoil in our hearts and minds with peace and serenity through your spirit.
Even if the mysteries of life and death exceed our understanding, give us we pray, acceptance of your eternal love for us and sustain us in the hope and belief of life everlasting in your presence, in the hereafter.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of Ed's passing. I (Ellen) came to know Ed through Kitchener MB's youth group for the year or so before he moved on to the young adults group. As a younger and very shy teen, I enjoyed his fun-loving ways that made everyone feel included, but I particularly appreciated that he always made sure everyone also got a ride home. Since I lived a bit further away than the rest, it was often left to him to give me that ride home and he did it with a cheerfulness that never made me feel like it was a chore. It was on the strength of these attributes that Terry and I signed on to his insurance business in its infancy (and still remain with it to this day). Whether seeing him at church or occasionally stopping in at his office to pay a bill, he remained the same cheery, sincerely interested person to come and say hello and maybe share quick updates on each other's family news.Twice he intervened personally when it came to some obscurity with coverage. The first was more easily resolved. The second one was a bit more involved and took more time, needing a series of deep dives by Ed and phone calls between us and police (before the age of smartphones), but due to Ed's intervention, eye for detail, and sense of something suspicious, he saved us hundreds of dollars in a car accident scam that not even the Toronto police had actually heard of. Just another example of how Ed went the extra the mile and made people feel like family even though we weren't. You'll surely hear many such stories in the days ahead and may these stories bring some added comfort to the many precious memories he made with his own beloved family and friends.
