Katie Martin (nee Brubacher) went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2025. She passed away peacefully in Kitchener, ON, at the age of 101.
Katie was born March 24, 1924, just east of Elmira, Ontario. She and her twin brother were the youngest of 13 children. Katie’s life centered on serving her family, loving others, and living for her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Katie attended school that was so close to home, she could see it from her farmhouse window! In her young adulthood, Katie’s first job was working as a housekeeper. She was introduced to her future husband Lorne by one of her brothers, and they were married on April 9, 1952 and spent 48 happy years together. During married life, Katie and Lorne lived in Elmira, Lucan, Salem, Elora, and Waterloo.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters Shirley Gingrich (Gord) and Jane Kinsie (Bob), her late son Arnold (Terri-Lynne, and her current spouse John), grandchildren Danielle (Alec), Jon (Kristy), Brittany (Josh), and Natalie (Peter), and her great-grandchildren Nathan and Kinsie.
Katie was predeceased by her beloved husband Lorne Martin, parents Annie and Josiah Brubacher, and her 12 siblings.
A Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Celebration of her Life will be held in the Funeral Home’s chapel on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A livestream and recording of the service will be available on the funeral home’s website. Reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
