Obituary of Kenneth Charles (Ken) West

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at WRHN – Queen’s Blvd (formerly St. Mary’s Hospital) at the age of 80.  Ken was born in Kitchener, ON.

Survived by his beloved wife Lynn, his loving children Michael and Andrea,  grandchild Meghan, brothers David (Carol-deceased), Paul (Betty-deceased), Philip (Joyce) and sister Diane (Russ).

Predeceased by his parents,  Wallace and Rose.

Ken graduated from St. John’s school, St. Jerome’s high school, and with a business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Ken was an accountant by trade, which he excelled at.  He had a designation of a Chartered Professional Account (CPA).  He had an affinity for numbers,  and enjoyed his work. He selflessly completed income tax returns for family and friends. He also thoroughly enjoyed financial planning.

Ken enjoyed playing, and watching, various types of sports.  He was a fan of watching Formula 1 and soccer.  He loved listening to music.  He always had music playing, or could be found enjoying himself at various concerts.

Ken was a facilitator with the church for marriage preparation courses.  He was also an extraordinary minister of communion.

Ken was a wonderful sounding board for his family and friends.   He was always there when you needed him, and he could always be counted on.  He was honest, trustworthy, kind, loving and had a wonderful sense of humour.  Our husband,  father, brother and friend will be greatly missed.

Special thanks go to Rachel and Sanja (nurses), and all the personal support workers that helped Ken.  Thanks also to the many family and friends who were, and are, a great support to us.  Thank you for your prayers, kindness, thoughtfulness and love at this most difficult time.

The funeral service will take place at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 80 University Ave W, Waterloo on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church basement.
