Condolences to Tammy's family. I worked with her in the Canadian Supplemental Instruction community, where she was active as a researcher and community builder on a national and international level. Over the last few years Tammy has collaborated with an extraordinary number of colleagues on projects, presentations, and research studies that will have a lasting impact on the ways colleges and universities support student success for years to come. Whenever I spoke with her, she would always update me on her kids' achievements too. I will miss having Tammy as a colleague and as a friend.

I extend my deepest condolences to Jessie, Max, and the rest of Tammy’s family and friends. I have worked with Tammy as an SI leader for 3 years at Laurier and without a doubt, she has truly shaped me into the person I am today. She always had a smile on her face and reflected the utmost compassion, positivity and love to everyone around her. She always saw the best in every single student, and supported them endlessly in such a gentle, understanding way that no one else could. Regardless of how negative or hopeless one felt, Tammy never failed to represent a beacon of light. I know I'm not alone when I say we are all fortunate to have had her in our lives. Her memories, acts of kindness, and profound impact will live on in the hearts and lives of the endless countless people she has touched. Sincerely, Charlize

Our sincerest condolences to Tammy's family from the Wilfrid Laurier University Department of Communication Studies. Tammy was a graduate of both our BA and MA programs and was also active in teaching tutorials in the department continuing on after receiving her MA. Tammy was always a positive and enthusiastic presence in the department, extremely popular with our students. She was recognized with Laurier's 2010 Teaching Assistant Award of Excellence. Her loss was felt deeply by many in our department, and we hope to honor her memory as a blessing with this donation.

To Jessie, Max, family, and friends: My deepest condolences to all of you. I had the privilege of working with Tammy for three years at Laurier while I was an SI Leader, and she left a lasting impact on me as both a mentor and an educator. Her passion for learning and her gift for sharing knowledge were truly inspiring. Tammy’s work ethic, compassion, and dedication touched the lives of so many students. I always looked up to her, and one piece of wisdom she shared with me has stayed with me to this day: “The decisions we make out of fear tend to be our worst decisions. The ones we make out of courage tend to be our greatest.” Her kindness and spirit will never be forgotten.

Please accept this brief message as one more indication of the impact your mother and wife had on the people at Laurier. I knew Tammy as a fellow alumnus from her earliest degree at Laurier, as her instructor in the Bachelor of Education program, and as a co-worker in supporting student success at Laurier. Tammy was a brilliant educator who always put people first. My sincerest condolences for your loss. Take care, Julie Mueller

In the short time I knew Tammy, she made a remarkable impact on me.
I met her when she offered to support a course that I teach. We quickly bonded over a discussion of an educator we both admired. Her interest in my evolution as an educator as well as support of my teaching philosophy made me feel connected to her within minutes and like I was in the presence of a good friend.
I shared the experience of meeting Tammy with others and since then, whenever I wondered how to build a bridge with another person, I thought of Tammy. My deepest sympathies to her family.

I am so sorry to learn of Tammy's passing. What a tragic loss for her family, friends, colleagues and students. I was fortunate to work with her at Laurier and as others have noted, she was positive, enthusiastic, empathetic and highly invested in student success. Tammy was an excellent leader/trainer/mentor to student employees and the culture she created in the Supplemental Instruction team was terrific. Most importantly, Tammy was immensely proud of her daughter and son. My sincere sympathies to you both.

Jessie, Max, and family,
I'll always remember Tammy as a very fine neighbour. When she asked "How are you?" she genuinely wanted to know, with obvious caring. That together with her sweet nature qualifies her as an inspirational figure in my life. Very sorry for your loss, but very glad to have known Tammy.

I worked with Tammy about ten years ago, and I was so struck by her warmth. She was an infectiously positive and encouraging person who radiated kindness and intelligence. I can only imagine how much you, her family, will miss her, and I want to let you know she will be remembered and admired always by me and many others who had the privilege of working with her.

I am so VERY sorry to hear of Tammy's untimely death. Tammy was a student of mine at Wilfrid Laurier University. I was so impressed with Tammy's insightfulness, work ethic, and all-around brilliance. She was an outstanding educator and touched many lives. We still corresponded occasionally and I always loved keeping up with her exploits. She gave so much to so many and had so many gifts to offer. This is a real tragedy.
