Marj had a spirited, positive, independent and energetic attitude toward life. She remained very active to the end living every day to the fullest pursuing her passions for sports, music and the arts.
Marj was a gourmet cook. Her family dinners on special occasions were legendary and anyone and everyone was welcome.
Marj was an active member of Westmount Golf and Country Club playing bridge every Wednesday afternoon. In earlier days she played both tennis and golf at the Club. As well, she skied at Chicopee, played badminton at the Granite Club and tennis at both Waterloo Tennis Club and Northfield Racquet Club. She made lifelong friends while participating in these sporting endeavours.
Always interested in staying current she attended public lectures at the Perimeter Institute and the Laurier Association for Lifelong Learning.
She had eclectic tastes in music ranging from symphony concerts at Centre in the Square to nights at the Jazz Room in Waterloo. Marj was always game for a trip to Drayton for the current season’s offerings. Later in life her interest in the arts extended to taking painting lessons with Peter Etril Snyder and she turned her love for flowers into a career as a designer working at Laura Sharpe and Schnarr Florists.
As if this didn’t keep her busy enough, she also found time to lunch with friends at the Checkerboard, explore new dining experiences with her sisters and nieces and attend her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Marj was a true Renaissance woman embracing life and all it had to offer with open arms. Above all, what she cherished most was her family and friends.
Honouring Marj’s wishes cremation will take place. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at Westmount Golf and Country Club, 50 Inverness Dr, Kitchener.
