Obituary of Suzanne Martha (nee Berner) Brown
Suzanne Martha Brown was born on June 27, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the second daughter to our parents, the late Rev. Norman and Mrs. Ruth Berner. She passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Waterloo Regional Health Network, Queen’s Blvd. Site, Kitchener.
Our family often called Suzanne “Suzie” or “Suz”, a talented lady who excelled in stitchery and crafts. Two of her fondest projects were the making of little girls dresses out of pillowcases for girls in third world countries and the knitting of bonnets and anti-tuberculosis vests for the warmth and protection of local preemie babies.
The children at MacEachern Public School, Waterloo, called Suzanne “Mme Brown” – a kind, patient French teacher with a love for children who visited their rooms with a smile and her travelling red wagon filled with French books.
Suzanne’s favourite things to do were swim, cook gourmet meals, read (she had an upstairs and a downstairs book!), visit Cuba, and organize events at St. Stephen.
Suzanne leaves us, her sorrowing family, to mourn: her husband of 55 years, Larrie; her children, Michael, Matthew, and Tianna, all of Kitchener; her sisters, Carole McLeod of Welland and Heather Pinkerton of South River; and her special cousin, Kathryn Aberle of Waterloo.
Rest in God’s peace, Suzanne. We love you.
A celebration of Suzanne’s life will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Rd. E, Kitchener, on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., celebration at 2 p.m., and light refreshments at 3 p.m.
Memorial remembrances may be directed to St. Stephen Lutheran Church or Canadian Lutheran World Relief (Ukraine) and can be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com.
