Obituary of Sukhvir Kaur Dhaliwal

After a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer, Sukhvir Kaur Dhaliwal passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, at the young age of 49. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Tanvit Dhaliwal and Tarnvir Dhaliwal, her husband, Randhir Dhaliwal, her mother, Harjinder Brar and her grandmother Baljit Kaur. She was predeceased by her father Harbans Brar and her grandfather Nihal Singh. 

Sukhvir was born and raised in Punjab and immigrated to Canada in 1996. Although she spent the better part of her life here in Kitchener, Punjab was always in her heart. Sukhvir routinely caught up with her friends and family back home and all across the world  through phone and video calls. Her departure has left a void in all of our hearts and her absence will be felt deeply and vastly by all. 

Sukhvir’s greatest achievement of all was raising her two amazing children, Tanvit and Tarnvir. She was a committed mother who valued family over everything, which was seen through her unwavering love and dedication to everyone she cared for. Sukhvir was a loving wife to Randhir, with whom she shared 27 years of marriage. She was the precious daughter of Late Harbans and Harjinder and a caring sister to Ninderjit, Rupinder and Surinder. She was a nurturing aunt to Ravnit, Prabdip, Jaspreet, Diljot, Kharak, Satinderpreet, Balkarn, Jaskarn, Navreet, Gursher, Manveer and Gurtaj. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. 

Our family would like to thank Dr. Mary DeCarolis, Dr. Nadia Califaretti and the entire team at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre for the exceptional care they provided over the past two years. Special thanks to Anita Adams, Dr. Sarah Leonard and the Grand River Hospital Oncology Unit for their guidance and support during the final leg of Sukhvir’s journey.

Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
