Obituary of Kathleen Ann Lambert
Kathleen Ann Lambert (née Hodgson) passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at her home on September 11, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on November 25, 1946, in Exeter, Ontario, Kathleen was the only child of the late Reginald B. Hodgson (2005) and Doris K. Hodgson (2006). She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John F. D. Lambert (2023).
She is survived by John’s three children and their families, and by her longtime friend and former husband, Jared McClelland.
Kathleen attended Waterloo Collegiate Institute before earning both her BA and MA in English at the University of Waterloo. She began her working life in municipal government but soon found her true calling in education. She devoted her professional life to teaching at both the elementary and secondary levels, inspiring countless students throughout her career.
Even after retirement, Kathleen continued to share her love of language as a tutor for international students, forging lasting friendships that enriched her life.
Kathleen’s interests were many and deeply felt. She was an accomplished cook and took great joy in hosting dinners for friends and neighbours. She was a devoted patron of the Stratford Festival, often combining theatre with a carefully prepared picnic in the park. She also cherished her travels through Europe and the Holy Land with John, creating memories she held dear.
Those who knew Kathleen will remember her as a dynamic and determined woman — brave in the face of challenges, strong in body and spirit, and never one to be easily persuaded from her convictions. She lived life on her own terms, meeting obstacles with resilience and courage.
Above all, Kathleen was a kind and thoughtful soul. She never failed to reach out with a card, a gift, or flowers to those experiencing hardship, offering comfort in her own gentle way.
Kathleen’s life was one of love, strength, and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Godspeed, Kathleen, on your final journey.
Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Kathleen’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
