Obituary of Peter James Jackman Hawes

Peter James Jackman Hawes passed away suddenly due to pancreatic cancer at his home on October 10, 2025, at the age of 66. Born and raised in Oakville, Peter was a long-time resident of Kitchener. He will be deeply missed and remembered by his brother Michael Hawes, his sister-in-law Donaleen Hawes, his nephews Byron, Garrett, Geoffrey, Trevor, and Martti, his cousins in Nova Scotia, and his many friends in Oakville, Toronto, and Kitchener. Peter was predeceased by his father (John), his beloved mother (Ruth Mitchell Hawes), and his brothers John and David. Peter was an avid golfer, a lover of music, and a gregarious person who was always keen to share a story, his latest musical discovery, or his views on the most recent political news. Peter was a kind man who was ready and willing to help a friend or a stranger. 

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, located at 171 King Street South in Waterloo, on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with memories to be shared at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, everyone is encouraged to donate to their favourite charity in Peter’s name.
