Obituary of Professor Dennis Lennox Morrison Lewis

Sunrise: December 27, 1958 to Sunset: October 3, 2025

After leaving England for Canada as a young lad, Dennis’ first stop was as a teacher of English literature in Bangkok, Thailand. The second stop was Sharjah, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Followed by the University of Doha in Qatar, which was his third and final stop in the Middle East, before returning to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada as a Lecturer at the University of Waterloo, where he will be greatly missed.

Professor Dennis was a peaceful, humble man whose biggest inspirations were reading, writing, and sharing whatever knowledge he gained on his past travels. Some of his other passions in life included podcasting and becoming a voiceover artist; reciting beautiful poems such as Joseph Brodsky’s poem Loneliness. Just before his passing, his book, Reading and Writing through Auden was published.

Dennis is survived by his siblings Cynthia and Angela, niece Sheila and grandnieces. He also leaves behind cousins Neville, Winston, and other family members in Canada. Dennis will be fondly missed by family and friends.

His favourite motto was, “God created me and gave me the talent to be creative and passionate about my work.” May you Rest in Peace in your eternal home.
