Wilhelmina passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on Monday, October 27th.
Mom will be reunited with her loving husband of 58 years, Christopher (2009), son Ted (2017), and son-in-law Geoffery (2024).
Dearly loved Mother of Geraldine Dow (Kevin) and Betty Ann Malleck. Mom to daughter-in-law, Sharon Walraven.
Grandchildren Brandon (Lindsay), Michelle, Julia (John-Paul), Christine (John David), Benjamin (Catherine) and Andrew (Hannah) have a special place in their hearts for ‘Mama’, as do nine beautiful great grandchildren; Katherine, Isaac, Rose, Jeffrey, Poppy, Loretta, Evelyn, Eliza and Arthur for their ‘Great Mama’. Mom cherished special moments with each one.
Wilhelmina was born in the Netherlands, the middle child in a family with 13. She is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings, Annie, Rita and Theo.
Wilhelmina and Christopher shared a love story that had them immigrate from the Netherlands to Canada on their honeymoon in 1951. They initially settled in the town of St. Mary’s, but for the last 53 years, Waterloo was their home. Their lives were nourished by their faith, work, volunteering and travel. Mom also enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting.
Wilhelmina was treated with compassion and tenderness by all staff at AgeCare West Williams, Kitchener, for which her family is truly grateful. Over the last 10 years, they became like family. Mom made connections everywhere she went and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
