Obituary of Aida Cáceres-Zepeda
April 10, 1949 – October 27, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Aida Cáceres-Zepeda announces her peaceful passing on October 27, 2025, at her daughter Lydia’s home, surrounded by love and family.
Born in Santa Elena, El Salvador, Aida immigrated to Canada at the age of 34, where she built a loving home and community rooted in family, kindness, and generosity. She will be remembered for her strength, giving nature, sense of humor, and adventurous spirit.
Aida had a passion for cooking and sewing, creating joy through her food and handmade clothing. From traditional Salvadoran dishes to new recipes, she loved to explore, her cooking was always filled with warmth and love. She worked in local restaurants and her neighborhood Latin store, sharing her traditional plates and culinary traditions with everyone she met. Aida also dedicated time to volunteering at her local soup kitchen, cooking for those in need and offering her heart to her community.
Aida is survived by her children Guadalupe (Arturo), Lydia (Terry), and Jonny; her grandchildren Anthony, Natasha, Cory, Brodey, Jordan, Terry Jr., Karyssa, Amelia, and Sofia; and her great-grandchildren Kaden, Robert, Leo, Izabella, Theofanis, and Kataleyha. She was predeceased by her mother, Lydia Mercedes Zepeda.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Lydia and Terry for their loving care and devotion over the past two years, ensuring Aida was surrounded by love and comfort throughout her time at home. A heartfelt thank-you is also extended to Irma Donan, Aida’s dear friend, for her unwavering companionship and support — spending every chemotherapy session by Aida’s side and bringing light and comfort through each visit.
To honor Aida’s vibrant spirit, the family kindly invites guests attending the service to wear a touch of yellow, her favorite color, in celebration of her life and the joy she brought to those around her.
