Obituary of Catherine Diane Lang
November 22, 1969 – December 5, 2025
With deep love and heavy hearts, the family of Catherine Diane Lang shares of her peaceful passing on December 5, 2025, at the age of 56, surrounded by those who cherished her most. Born on November 22, 1969, Cathy lived a life filled with love, bold spirit, and a fierce devotion to her family.
Cathy was always the life of the party — the person who could walk into any room and instantly lift the energy with her wit, warmth, and that unmistakable sparkle in her eye. She was funny, she was kind, she was feisty… and yes, occasionally a little “hot to handle,” but in the way that made her impossible not to love. If Cathy was in the room, you knew you were in for good stories, good laughs, and maybe a sassy comment or two.
Family meant absolutely everything to Cathy. Some of her happiest hours were spent sharing stories from childhood, reminiscing about the “good old days,” and listening—truly listening—to the memories of others. She could talk about the past for hours, and somehow it never got old. Cathy made nostalgia feel like a warm blanket around the people she loved.
Cathy also loved food—really loved food. She loved talking about it, reading about it, discovering new recipes, and especially knowing exactly what would be on the menu for every family gathering. She didn’t do much cooking herself, but she was always ready with ideas, opinions, and the occasional pointed suggestion. Her family knew that her culinary critiques came from a place of love… and maybe from her wish that someone would cook exactly what she was craving.
Cathy’s magnetic personality drew people to her throughout her life. She made friends easily and kept them close. Even in her final days, nurses and doctors popped into her room simply to be near her, sharing that they felt as though they’d known her far longer than they had. That was Cathy: a soul who made strangers feel like old friends.
She adored her family above all else. Cathy is survived by her father John Lang and his wife Irene Parker, her brother J. Michael Lang and his wife Leslie, and her sister Lisa Code and her husband Chris Code. She poured endless love, pride, and encouragement into her nieces Alexandra Code, Samantha Code, Arwen Lang, and her nephew Nathaniel Lang. She never missed an opportunity to ask them about their lives, cheer them on, and remind them that she was their biggest supporter.
She is predeceased by her loving mother, Phyllis Lang (1996), and by her grandparents Flora and Peter Mancuso; Mary “Roxy” and Louis Lang and her uncles: Carlo Giganti and Vince Olivieri who welcomed her home with open arms.
Cathy’s spirit—fun, bold, loving, endlessly loyal—will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew her, especially her many aunts, uncles and cousins. Her laughter, her stories, and her unmistakable presence will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless friends who were lucky enough to be part of her world.
A special thank you to the staff at Traverse Independence and the doctors and nurses at WRHN – Queen’s Blvd for their loving care and kindness through the years.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to the Ontario Paraplegic Foundation or the WRHN Foundation may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
