Passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the age of 75.

Best friend and partner of Margaret Oliveira. Dear father of Kevin (Karen), and their children Jackson and Tommy, Cindy (Carlos), Amanda (Jesse), and their children Dominic, Lilly and Charlie, Kate (AJ) and their children William and Emerson, Matt (Karen) and their children Quinnley and Nixon. Will be fondly remembered by his sisters Patricia, Cora (Bob) and Starleen and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Predeceased by parents Theda (nee Hubley) and William Crockett, his son Ron, and brother David.

Ernie was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a pillar of every community he touched. For 34 years, he dedicated himself to his work at JM Schneider’s in Kitchener, where he was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering dependability.

Outside of work, Ernie’s true passion was speed skating. For over 40 years, he poured his heart into coaching the sport he loved. What began as a way to support his children grew into a lifelong commitment that shaped countless young athletes. Through patience, encouragement, and a genuine belief in the potential of every skater, Ernie helped guide many to success—on and off the ice.

Ernie’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the athletes he inspired, and the friendships that were built through the community he helped create. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.

A very special thank you to all the ParaMed PSWs, you were the bright lights who brought comfort, warmth, and kindness with every visit. Your presence truly lifted our spirits. Our deepest gratitude also goes to the dedicated and compassionate nursing staff, whose care and support meant more than words can say.
