Obituary of Beverley Isabelle Hamilton (Blachford)

It is with profound gratitude for a life well lived that we share news of the passing of Beverley Isabelle Hamilton. Shortly after celebrating her 81st birthday and Christmas, Beverley passed away peacefully at home in Drayton, Ontario with her family by her side.

Beverley is now reunited with her husband Wayne, her parents Isabelle and Calvin Blachford, and her brother, Jack Blachford. Her legacy of kindness lives on through her three children: Alison Kernoghan, Chris Hamilton (Natalia Sueia), and Andy Hamilton (Kerri Hetherington). She was the cherished grandmother of seven grandsons — Daniel, Aaron, Joshua, Ethan, Henry, Julian, and Ellis — each of whom held a special place in her heart. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Corrine McComb, and by a wide circle of extended family and friends, including her canine companion, Gem.

Beverly was born in Windsor, Ontario and raised in Kitchener where the foundations of her life were formed. From an early age, she was known for her quiet strength and an instinctive compassion that drew people to her. She had a natural ability to connect by offering comfort and making others feel genuinely cared for, a quality that was reflected in all her interactions and relationships.

Drawn to caring for others, Beverley moved to London, Ontario to study nursing, a calling that became both her profession and her passion. Over the years, she served patients and families in many settings, including St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener, local medical offices, and community home care, with a focus on palliative care through VON. Later, she brought peace and reassurance to residents and families in hospice at Lisaard House. For many years, she was also a steady and compassionate presence for children living with cancer, serving as both a camp nurse and eventually the Executive Director of Camp Quality Canada. Across every role, Beverley’s care, patience, and ability to connect with people remained constant.

Beverley and Wayne raised their family in Kitchener. She found deep purpose and pride as a devoted mother, creating a home grounded in warmth and support. Family life reflected Beverley’s belief in togetherness and involved camping trips, time spent together outdoors, and memorable travels, including a cross-country trip to Expo 86 and an unforgettable journey to Japan.

Beverley had been connected to St. John the Evangelist since childhood, and her family remained part of the church community. In later years, she embraced new chapters, making her home on Puslinch Lake and later in Drayton, where she continued to value time with family and close friends. In her final months, the care Beverley had offered throughout her life was returned to her through the compassion of those who looked after her.

Through each life that Beverley touched — as a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend and nurse — she will be remembered most for the grace and genuine kindness she extended to everyone she met.
