Olinda - I was so sorry to hear that you had lost the special man in your life. Reading his obituary made me realize what an amazing man that I missed out on getting to know. Looks like you picked a good one!! I will miss our visits at Highview when our paths crossed, but please know how much we appreciated all that you did to include Dad and to help him feel more at home at Highview. Mr. Brienza was my neighbour. As a child he always greeted me with a warm smile and took a genuine interest in talking with me and the other kids in the neighbourhood. In recent years I enjoyed walking through the neighbourhood and seeing Mr. and Mrs. Brienza on their porch where they always took the time to catch up with me about life and teaching…and Mr.Brienza was always smiling! My deepest condolences to the entire family.

I started working as a teacher with the WCDSB in January of 1977. One of the first people to welcome me to my position was Jerry, in his role as a religious consultant. Mr. Brienza was one of my teachers in the mid-90’s at Resurrection and he was always one of my favourites. He was fair and kind and raidiated an energy and joy for life that few people possess. To look into his eyes was to see kindness. I am truly sad to hear of his passing today. Biggest hugs to his family.
