Obituary of Edgar Robert Leis

Edgar Leis, 94, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born to parents Allen and Mary Leis on June 19th,1931, in Nithburg Ontario and was part of a large family. He is survived by his loving wife, Nelda, of 74 years. He is also survived by his sons Dwight Leis (Penny 2023) and Byron Leis (Kerry), daughter Terry Shuh (Bruce), grandchildren Nicole Hill (David), Melissa Mather (Denis) and Brian Shuh (Ashley) and many great-grandchildren.

He was visionary and entrepreneurial in his many pursuits. Edgar carved his own way and trails, living every moment to its fullest; he is defined by his strength of character, focus, and the love to his family. Greatness is not found at the top of the mountain, but in the climb itself, and Edgar’s life was a testament to that truth.  

Edgar was an avid outdoorsman, pilot, artist and craftsman. He loved many adventures including flying, snowmobiling, moose hunting, fishing and camping. He often discovered new terrain by his boat, his airplane or on foot. Cottage life on Lake Nipissing was a place of happy memories for his friends and family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Erb Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm with remarks at 2:30 pm.
