Obituary of Randolph "Randy" Arnold Klawitter
It is with great sadness that the family of Randy Klawitter announces his passing at WRHN – Chicopee on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the age of 87.
Randy was the dear father of Brad Klawitter (Merna Wooley), and Stacey Klawitter (Brian Taylor), and cherished grandfather of Alex Sherman and Madison Sherman. He is also survived by his sister Karen (Bud) Helwig and his half-brother, Jeff Klawitter.
Randy was predeceased by his beloved wife of 58 years, Denise “Denny” Klawitter (nee Ball), and his parents Henry Klawitter and Sophie Wambold (nee Zabarylo).
Born in Englehart, a small town in Northern Ontario, Randy moved to Kirkland Lake before relocating to Waterloo as a teenager. He attended high school at KCI (Kitchener) and Waterloo College, then Western University where he graduated with a BA, majoring in Math. Randy worked at Uniroyal Tire, then Dominion Life (where he met and married Denise Ball). Over the next 26 years, he worked at the University of Waterloo as a Program Administrator for Co-op Math and Accounting. He retired at the age of 58 in 1996.
Randy enjoyed many winters and summers in the Collingwood timeshare with his family, and 25 years at the Muskoka Cottage on Lake Joseph. He loved downhill skiing, golfing, tennis, and bowling. Randy and Denny enjoyed many travels and cruises together, along with their friends. Above all, Randy cherished every moment spent with his grandkids Alex and Madison, who were the light of his life. In his final five years at University Gates, Randy liked to spend social time with his friends, win chocolate bars at Bingo, and participate in the exercise classes.
Special thanks to Dr. Michael Koke (GAU at WRHN – Chicopee) and all the care staff at the GAU for your compassionate care of our father.
Cremation has taken place, and a private interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
Condolences for the family or donations to the WRHN Foundation (Geriatric Assessment Unit) may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
