Obituary of Grant Edwin Mugford

Grant passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, after a prolonged period of health challenges, surrounded by his family and their love.

Grant was predeceased by his parents, Beatrice Louise Mugford and Hedley Charles Mugford, and by his cherished life partner, Robert (“Bob”) Short, whose memory he carried with him always.  He is lovingly remembered by his sisters Wendy Janice Crawford, Pamela Gail Pitz (Thomas), and Joyce Sandra Hamberger (Chris), and by his brother Bradley Allan Mugford (Brenda).  He also leaves behind nieces and nephews Erin, Sarah, Keri, Ryan, Mandy, Nicole, Brad, and Katie (and their families) for whom he had a deep and abiding love.

Grant was known as a trustworthy, generous, kind, and warm-hearted person. He was proud of his long career in retail sales, where his honesty and care for others were evident to colleagues and customers alike. Outside of work, Grant had a deep appreciation for travel, architecture, and history, interests that reflected his curiosity and thoughtful nature.  He enjoyed discussing both historical and current events and social issues, always sharing his knowledge and insights as a well-read and thoughtful observer.  Above all, he treasured his family and the life he shared with his beloved partner, Bob. Their bond was the center of Grant’s world and remained his greatest source of comfort and joy.

In accordance with his wishes, Grant will be honoured with a simple, private memorial with his immediate family at Memory Gardens this spring where he will rest in peace with Bob — and with parents and grandparents close by.  He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever.

Special thanks to the incredible ICU hospital staff at WRHN @ Queen's Blvd., especially Dr. Rebecca Kruisselbrink.

Grant and Bob loved animals. In their honour, donations to the KW Humane Society or the World Wildlife Federation may be arranged through www.erbgood.com.
