Obituary of Margaret Gregg (nee Deffley)

Margaret was born in York, England in October, 1938 to parents Jack and Ethel Deffley. She had a sister Shirley and two brothers, John and Frank.

Her early life was spent in Leeds, England, and it was there that she met Malcolm Gregg in 1958. They married in 1961 and lived in Nottingham, England for several years, where she had her first son Russell.

In 1968, Malcolm was offered a job in Canada and they accepted it, living in Toronto for five years, where Margaret had her second son Richard in 1970. During this time, Margaret also worked as an assistant to doctors and dentists.

In 1973, they moved to Kitchener-Waterloo. Margaret continued her work with doctors and dentists, and made many local friends in the years that followed.

Russell (and his wife Cindy) and Richard provided five grandchildren for Margaret and Malcolm to enjoy: Nicholas, Emma, Olivia, Ian, and Natalie.

Margaret and Malcolm enjoyed a lot of worldwide travel during their lives, and on early retirement, bought a place in Florida to spend their winters. During these visits, Margaret enjoyed teaching English to Spanish children. In the last few years, however, Margaret’s declining health required them to enter a retirement home, where they lived happily until Margaret’s latest health failure.

Thanks to all the hospital staff at the K-W hospitals for their care in treating Margaret in recent years.

Cremation has taken place, and a private family Celebration of Life will take place at a date to be arranged. In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to the Alzheimer’s Society may be made through www.erbgood.com.
