Obituary of Peggy Lou Haff

We sadly announce the passing of Peggy Haff on Sunday, January 18, 2026, aged 88, at Forest Heights Long Term Care in Kitchener, Ontario.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents John Buford Parsons and Kathryn (nee Wacker) Parsons, her brother John Parsons, and her brother-in-law Tom Smith.

She is survived by her husband Charles Haff, sons Stephen Haff (Tina) of New York, and Kevin Haff (Darlene) of Colorado, grandchildren Uta, Lyndsey, Kiki, and Zadie, sisters Suzanne (nee Parsons) Smith and Kathleen Parsons, and her sister-in-law Iku, all of Colorado.

Peggy was born on December 17, 1937 in Hastings, Nebraska and remained in Nebraska throughout high school in Hastings and Kearny State Teachers College in Kearny. In 1959, she moved to Colorado where she met her future husband, Charles Haff. They were married in 1963 and lived in the mountain town of Evergreen, Colorado where their first son, Stephen was born in 1965. In 1967, Peggy and her family moved to Waterloo where their second son, Kevin was born later that same year. Throughout Peggy’s married life, much of her focus was on being a resourceful and talented homemaker, creating a secure and joyful home-life for her family. She ensured that the children’s education beyond school included training in music, art, scouting, and athletics. Her outside interests included arts and crafts, gardening, folk dancing, story-telling, Yoga, and Tai Chi. She formed a broad base of close friendships with people sharing these interests. Her community activities included group committee work for cub and scout troops and volunteering as a teaching assistant at Empire School in Waterloo. In her later years, Peggy led an even-paced life gardening, maintaining a healthful physical regimen, and visiting her sons’ families.

At her request, there will be no visitation or service. A Memorial Reception will be arranged in Colorado at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, condolences for the family or donations to the Mennonite Central Committee may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or at www.erbgood.com.
