Obituary of Rosario Hoefert

Rosario Hoefert (née de Turégano Maquez) passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the age of 99 in her home in Waterloo, Ontario.

Predeceased by her husband Sigfrid Hoefert, her son Frederick and her siblings Amparin and Jeronimo.  Survived by her two daughters Monica and Teresa.

Rosario was born in Madrid, Spain in 1926 and came to Canada in 1951 after spending some years in London, England.

She was a loving and generous mother, a multitalented woman, and most elegantly skilled in sewing. In addition to raising her 3 accomplished children she worked in the fashion business and was a longstanding volunteer, in particular beginning in 1995 for the KW Hospital (Waterloo Regional Health Network).

Special thanks to Will and Toya, who are like extended family, for their enormous love and support and to her wonderful caregivers Frida, Gemma, Bernadette and Jen for their kind and beautiful care. 

Cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will take place at a later date.
