Joyce Elizabeth Reidel (nee Dubrick), 96, of Cambridge (formerly of Waterloo), died peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Cambridge.
She was born on February 3, 1929, to Lavina and George Dubrick of Kitchener and was a graduate of Kitchener Collegiate Institute.
She married Cletus (Clayt) Robert Reidel on June 12, 1948, and they had five children: Peggy, Thomas, Wayne, Louis, and Susan.
She was a career homemaker and later participated in the family business, Reidel Floorcraft, before retiring.
At the age of 18, Joyce took instruction at the K-W Flying Club (now the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre) and was one of the first females to learn to fly in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. She was a member of the Rummelhardt Women’s Institute and The Catholic Women’s League at Our Lady of Lourdes in Waterloo. Joyce was instrumental in helping Vietnamese immigrants new to the Waterloo Region through The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in the early 1980s. Her hobbies included puzzles, crocheting, and playing card games, like Solo and Euchre, with family and friends.
Joyce is survived by five children, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clayt, her parents Lavina and George, and her brothers Robert Dubrick, Harold Dubrick, Bruce Dubrick and his wife Glenna, and Ronald Dubrick. She is survived by Ronald's wife, Ruth.
Visitation is at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by fellowship and a luncheon.
Interment at Parkview Cemetery will be at a later date.
